Katy Perry blasted ‘the media’ a couple days ago (March 20th) from her Twitter account for reports that she had an issue with fellow pop stars Beyonce and Shakira. The controversy began with an interview Perry gave with BBC 1 where she was asked about working with Rihanna.

“I was telling her, you know that Eurythmics song with Aretha Franklin, Annie Lennox, ‘Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves’?” Katy said. “That’s like the kind of song that I’d want to do instead of, like, ‘Hips Don’t Lie,’ which was still a great song by Shakira and Beyonce. I mean, not ‘Hips Don’t Lie,’ what’s that duet? ‘Beautiful Liar.’ “

“I loved it, but I definitely want to do something that is just kind of like, so iconic,” she added.

Some blogs took that as a diss aimed at Bey and Shakira, and Perry gave an interesting response.

“F*ck all y’all (press) dat thinks I dissed anyone, puhleez, u havin’ a slow news day or what?! Get a life, cuz it’s not mine! #hoodratcominout,” she tweeted. “If ya ears are filled with wax it’s time to get a cleanse boo. Anywayz… (steps off of box)”

Yo Dre, get back to working on music already!

According to Variety, Dre is set to co-produce the horror thriller “Thaw” for the Crucial Films movie banner. The script for the film will be written by Vik Weet, with a story focusing on an “ancient evil that emerges from the rapidly melting ice in the Yukon.” Dre is no stranger to the movie business, with a résumé that includes acting appearances in the 1996 heist flick “Set It Off,” as well as turns in the comedy “The Wash” and cop drama “Training Day.” He announced a deal in 2007 to team with New Line Cinema’s Crucial Films to produce a series of dark comedies and horror films and “Thaw” would be the first effort under that contract.  And, of course, Dre is also still working on his long-promised Detox album. Rick Ross recently told MTV News that he had joined the likes of Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z, 50 Cent and Nas as a contributor
 to the top secret project. – MTV

“Yeah, right” to that last statement.

DMX has seen better times!

Rapper DMX is being sued for nearly $750,000 for a international comeback tour that never took place. A booking agency called Heavy Rotation has filed suit against the rapper in New York City, according to TMZ. The company alleges that it had an exclusive yearlong deal with DMX to book his international tours.

But X’s legal troubles lead to a lien that was placed on his passport, preventing him from leaving the country. The agency claims it has paid close to $100,000 towards DMX’s legal issues and that the rapper hired another agency to book dates–which violated his contract.

Heavy Rotation claims it lost $749,285 on the botched tour deal.

As if being addicted to crack wasn’t enough…

Pitbull Honored!

As you all may know it takes alot of artists a really long time before getting honored by VH1 on their segment documentaries called “Behind The Music.” This last week Pitbull’s segment has been airing on VH1 and I have to admit. I’ve learned to respect a whole other side of the man they call Mr. 305, Mr. Worldwide. It’s a great segment. You have to check it out yourself.

So in the spirit of celebration… Felicidadez to Pitbull on all his accomplishments.

Rapper says he never promised woman money.

Drake has filed an official response to a lawsuit filed last month by a woman claiming she was the Young Money star’s ex-girlfriend and he owes her unpaid royalties for his hit “Marvin’s Room.” Ericka Lee has consistently claimed that Drake even sent her a text praising her work on the record.

Drake now claims that no money was ever promised for Lee’s appearance on the song–she’s the voice of a voicemail recording in the intro–claiming that “she consented to the use of her voice in the song ‘Marvin’s Room’ for no compensation.”

He also says the two were never romantically involved.

Hmmmmm…. I wonder.

Pop star Katy Perry surprised the audience during a performance on BBC Radio 1′s live lounge in England when, instead of performing one of her own hits, she donned a Yankee cap and offered up a cover of Jay-Z and Kanye West’s hit “N***as In Paris.”

It was slightly edited, of course.

Backed with a live band, Perry performed the cut much to the fans and hosts’ delight, in a singsongy style–which she was quick to point out was ‘not’ rapping. Do the damn thing Katy. We ain’t mad atcha!!!

Hitmaking singer/songwriter/producer Akon is facing a $39,000 lawsuit for breach of contract. Akon is being sued by lawyers who’s firm he hired last year.

TMZ reports that the Senegalese singer hired the firm Yoss but didn’t pay them $39,363.74 for legal services. The firm is now suing him for failing to pay. Akon has filed a counterclaim.

Reportedly, Akon is simply asking that the judge dismiss the case.

“Hey Judge! I’m rich as hell, but can you dismiss the case?”

Lil Wayne and Dhea

Fans are still trying to figure out if hip hop superstar Lil Wayne is engaged or not. He was spotted courtside with his girlfriend Dhea at the Los Angeles Lakers game against the Miami Heat. Dhea was sporting a large diamond ring, which was enough to get speculation going as to the status of the couple’s relationship.

Wayne reportedly exclaimed “She said yes!’” at a restaurant after giving Dhea the ring, which got the engagement rumors swirling.

“I feel like I’ve died and went to Dhea,” Wayne tweeted about his boo.

According to a press release that was sent out Feb. 27th, Arcángel “La Maravilla” has inked a deal with Pina Records… I’m pretty sure he got cut a fat ass check.
