Malaysia Prime Minister Says Flight MH370 Ended In Indian Ocean

Najib Razak

Families of those onboard missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 have some closure this morning.

Malaysia Prime Minister Najib Razak announced on Monday that according to new satellite data, the missing plane crashed into the Indian Ocean.

“This is a remote location, far from any possible landing sites,” said Razak in a press conference.”It is therefore with deep sadness and regret that I must inform you that, according to this new data, Flight MH370 ended in the southern Indian Ocean.”

Flight MH370 disappeared on March 8 with 239 people onboard after it departed from Kuala Lampur. It was headed for Beijing.

For over two weeks now, searches have been made all over the area including the South China Sea, Straight of Malacca and the Indian Ocean.

The conclusion comes from a new never before used type of analysis that shows the plane flew along the southern corridor and the its last position was in the middle of the Indian Ocean, west of Perth, said Razak.

Now, search crews will try to find any debris at the bottom of the ocean of that location.

Families of the passengers have been already notified of the new development.

Another press conference is scheduled for Tuesday that will have further details.

“We share this information out of a commitment to openness and respect for the families, two principles which have guided this investigation,” Razak said.
